Hebocon, a robot contest for the “technically ungifted,” was held in July of this year, but this video with English subtitles surfaced only last week. It’s a robot fighting competition for people who have no engineering, programming, or crafting skills.

One contestant left her robot on the train on the way to the contest, and went to get a beer instead, tweeting a picture of her meal at the contest organizers. A handmade award was also given for the least technologically advanced robot. The man who won expressed shame at the fact that he slightly misunderstood the point of the contest and actually tried to build a useful robot. You should watch this video because it looks like it was an incredibly good time. But you will watch this video because ineffectual robots are hilarious.

Susana Polo thought she'd get her Creative Writing degree from Oberlin, work a crap job, and fake it until she made it into comics. Instead she stumbled into a great job: founding and running this very website (she's Editor at Large now, very fancy). She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
