We know the long-running feud over Star Trek vs. Star Wars can range from telling jokes to throwing punches but the interesting thing about J.J. Abrams being chosen to direct the next Star Wars film was the entire world realized it was blasphemy, not just fandom. So what does the rebooted Trek’s Captain Kirk think of the news? Actor Chris Pine is excited for his friend, but also really serious about making sure he’s back on board the Enterprise in a few years. But what if Pine were to get a role in Abrams’ Star Wars? Would a black hole open up and suck all of us into it? Find out what Pine thinks.

USA Today spoke with Pine about the shocking revelation and what it means for his sci-fi franchise.

“The only way I’ll be disappointed is if he doesn’t direct our third movie,” Pine told them. “I think if that turns out to be the case we’ll have to kidnap him and hold him hostage until he agrees to do a third.”

We’re 99% sure he’s not serious about that whole kidnapping thing, though it would probably make for a great movie. Since the news first broke, we found out Abrams is at least set to produce a third Star Trek film but we don’t know if he’ll have time to direct it depending on his Star Wars duties. But don’t worry, Pine knows Abrams is up for the task.

“From my standpoint, J.J. is a science-fiction genius,”said Pine. “To have him over in the Star Wars camp is going to be a great thing. I’m sure it’s going to be a great film.”

USA Today also asked the actor if there was a chance he could have a role in Star Wars: Episode VII to which he smartly replied: “Now you’re really playing with fire. I wouldn’t say that even lightly.”
