Rumors that Felicity Jones will be playing Black Cat in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2 have been flying ever since her involvement in the project was announced, and even if nothing is confirmed the actress has been slipping us little hints as to the nature of her character along the way.

In an interview with View London, Jones let loose a few details:

It’s all quite shrouded in secrecy, but I’m the Goblin’s girlfriend – I’m in a relationship with him, and his accomplice. I’m on the dark side.

She still refuses to give us the name of her character, however, so all of the rumors remain purely speculation. It is a signature of the Marvel superhero movie franchise (across both studios that own the rights to Marvel heroes) that the plot and production details are kept under lock and key until it’s time for the movie to really start kicking publicity into gear, so it might be a while before we get a complete picture of the plot and characters of the Spider-Man sequel.

Jones says:

It’s all in the vaults of Marvel. I love all that secrecy, I think it’s great. It builds anticipation, there’s too much transparency in everything these days.

What we can take from this, however, is that the Green Goblin will most definitely be involved in the forthcoming movie– an important thing to know! Now it’s a matter of figuring out what part the Goblin plays in the story. Considering the sheer volume of gossip surrounding this film (first with the mystery of Felicity Jones’s character, then with Mary-Jane Watson actress Shailene Woodley‘s introduction being pushed to the third film, now with the presence of the Green Goblin) there’s no way that the rumor mill will be putting this movie on the back burner any time soon.
