MTV Geek!: Doing interviews right. A somewhat reluctant George R.R. Martin was asked who would win if some of the characters from his A Song of Ice and Fire were to battle their Middle Earth counterparts. Among the “G.R.R. vs J.R.R.” pairings he tackles are Tyrion vs Frodo (“I’m not sure I’d even pick Frodo over, like, Sam. Either Sam.), Gimli vs Gregor Clegane (he thinks Gimli would win, which I disagree with, but that might just be my fear of Gregor talking), and—the best one—Ned Stark vs Boromir. Either way Sean Bean comes out alive which, as we all know, doesn’t happen often.

Fair warning, the video is a bit spoilery in the beginning, specifically regarding what happens in A Storm of Swords with Jaime Lannister’s hand, so if you’ve not yet read the books you should skip ahead to 1:03.
