Straight from Deadline itself: Henry Cavill, veteran of The Count of Monte Cristo, Showtime’s The Tudors, and Stardust has been tapped to play Superman in Zack Snyder‘s new reboot.

Says Deadline:

Warner Bros clearly has chosen a more macho leading man for Superman than the previous Brandon Routh.  Cavill also has a past with Superman. Before Bryan Singer came on to direct Superman Returns and cast Brandon Routh, Cavill had been one of the frontrunner choices for directers Brett Ratner and McG when they were going to helm the picture. That Superman was younger, and this time, the intention was to cast an actor near 30. Cavill will be 28 this year, so things worked out just right for him.

Snyder’s involvement in the project leaves us less than enthused, given his history of producing mostly shot-for-shot translations of comic books when he makes comic book movies (and Sucker Punch, each successive trailer of which leaves us feeling more and more icky), but then we remember that David S. Goyer (of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight) is writing the script based on an idea by Christopher Nolan… and we get excited again.

Instead she stumbled into a great job: founding and running this very website (she's Editor at Large now, very fancy). She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
