In a pre-panel interview on Marvel’s New York Comic-Con streaming page, the cast of Jessica Jones answered a few questions about the portrayal of relationships between female characters on television. Present were Krysten Ritter, Rachael Taylor, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Mike Colter.
Moss revealed a bit about her mysterious character, Jerry Hogarth, saying that she’s “a lawyer, who’s a very strong woman with a very strong point of view.” She goes on, saying, “She’s very ruthless, and she wants what she wants, and she’s not going to let anyone get in the way of that. That’s just who she is.”
Hogarth and Jones are going to “run up against each other,” according to Moss, but they find that they need each other. Taylor took a moment to comment on this, saying that she’s excited to show off these kinds of relationships on the show. She said:
I’m really psyched for people to see the relationships between the women on this show, because they’re… complicated. They’re really rich. They’re not just perfect best friends or perfect adversaries. There’s a lot of different emotional dynamics for us to play with in the relationships on the show, so I think people are really going to dig it.
Ritter agreed, adding:
And amazing female roles. Our friendship is unlike any other friendship you see between two women on television. Really amazing strong female characters. This is exciting.
The Jessica Jones hype is real. And now it’s going to be even harder to wait for the November 20th premiere. Uuuugh.
