On Dan Meth‘s Futuristic Movie Timeline, movies are listed in chronological order according to their setting, represented by the rightmost end of their green bar. The left end of the green bar represents the year the movie came out in, giving a very interesting visual representation of exactly how near the “near” future can wind up being in the long run.

So on the one hand, we only have 73 years to colonize Mars, but we have 250 years to get ready for the arrival of the Great Evil and the return of the Fifth Element, and almost five hundred years to prevent Idiocracy from happening.
