New Star Trek Beyond Trailer Comes With a New Rihanna Song

We’ve had our ups and downs in the marketing for Star Trek Beyond—the movie we all hope makes up for Into Darkness—and this third trailer takes us in yet another tonal direction. Where the first trailer was action-packed and upbeat, the second was a bit more serious, and now we’ve got one that’s downright somber. Anyone else picking up a James Bond vibe thanks to Rihanna’s “Sledgehammer”?

Maybe someone in the marketing department at Paramount is trying to fill out a movie trailer bingo card. Now we just have to wait about another month until July 22 to see which tone the actual movie falls closest too, but I’d have to guess it splits the two extremes and falls somewhere around trailer 2, which bodes well.
