These Star Wars sculptures look photo-real enough to be physical art objects, but they’re not — they’re the digital design workings of French artist Travis Durden, based on photographs of statues on display at the Louvre. The juxtaposition seems a little on-the-nose — Star Wars characters have ascended into our cultural mythos, hence the comparison to ancient gods — but I can’t deny the results look striking.

Perhaps it’s for the best that these statues remain in the “what-if” realm … but it would be kind of cool to have an experimental Darth Vader statue on display in my home. Art should make people think, y’know?
