Rhianna Pratchett, lead writer on the Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider games, will be stepping in to begin solo writing the Dark Horse title of the same name. Issues one through twelve were written by fan fave Gail Simone, and Pratchett will be beginning a new arc with issue thirteen, out February 25th.

Dark Horse says this issue will be a great jumping-on point for new readers, so if you’re curious about the title, you won’t have to wait much longer to get into it. For those of you (like me) who weren’t thrilled with Tomb Raider‘s art in the first few issues, Nicolás Daniel Selma has been swapping off with Derlis Santacruz, who will return in issue thirteen.

Here’s the official issue description:

Lara’s quiet life working at the British Museum is shattered as she finds herself drawn into a dangerous game with her friend’s life at stake—a friend who was thought to be already dead!

More lady writers in comics is always a good thing!

[UPDATE] A small clarification from Pratchett:

Sam Maggs is a writer and televisioner, currently hailing from the Kingdom of the North (Toronto). Her first book, THE FANGIRL'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY will be out soon from Quirk Books. Sam’s parents saw Star Wars: A New Hope 24 times when it first came out, so none of this is really her fault.
