TIME is all about Anita Sarkeesian: only months after being named one of TIME’s “30 Most Influential People on the Internet,” the feminist gaming critic has also made the magazine’s annual “100 Most Influential People” feature.
Writing for TIME, Wil Wheaton talks about Sarkeesian’s work with Feminist Frequency and the months of Gamergate abuse that she’s endured:
Anita is a feminist for the digital age, using modern tools and platforms to engage thousands of people who want to hear her thoughts and respond to the challenges she raises. A lesser person may throw up her hands and unplug her game console, but Anita is determined to ensure that video games are inclusive and representative of everyone who plays them. As her detractors grow increasingly unhinged, we have proof that her efforts are working.
Sarkeesian is joined on TIME’s list by rad ladies like Youtube CEO Susan Wojcicki, ballet dancer Misty Copeland, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Emma Watson, Laverne Cox, Sarah Koenig, and Malala Yousafzai. Not a bad group to be influenced by, I’d say.
