When Are the 2022 Grammys and Where to Watch Them

After a two-month delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the biggest night in music is almost here. The 64th Annual Grammys will be awarded in Las Vegas, NV, and will recognize the biggest musical achievements of 2021. Awards will be handed out in 86 categories, with the major categories being Best New Artist, Best Record of the Year, Best Album of the Year, and Best Song of the Year.
Meanwhile, the Grammys are really shaking things up this year, with the addition of two new and exciting categories: Best Global Music Performance (Global Music Field) and Best Música Urbana Album (Latin Music Field). The voting process was also changed, making it so voters can only vote in 10 categories, instead of 15. This ensures that voters are voting in the categories where they have the most knowledge. Additionally, the awards show has an exciting line-up of performances from Grammy nominees. The 2022 Grammys will see performances from BTS, Billie Eilish, Carrie Underwood, Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Nas X, and many more.
Meanwhile, the stakes this year are pretty high, with viewers especially honing in on Rodrigo. The 19-year old has a strong potential to “sweep” the Grammys this year – meaning she could win all four major categories. Rodrigo’s album, Sour, received nominations in the four major categories, as well as three additional nominations. In all of Grammy history, only two other artists have ever swept the Grammys: Christopher Cross in 1981 and Billie Eilish in 2020. However, Rodrigo will face some stiff competition as she is up against nominees such as Eilish, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Lil Nas X, and Silk Sonic.
When are the Grammys and Where to Watch Them
The 2022 Grammys will be held on Sunday April 3rd, at 8:00 PM EST/5:00 PM PST. Viewers who have cable will be able to watch the Grammys live on the CBS Television Network. Additionally, they can also stream the Grammys live from Paramount+. If you don’t have Paramount+, the streaming service costs just $4.99 a month (with ads) or $9.99 a month (without adds). Plus, you can get a 7-day free trial if you’ve never used the service before.
CBS and Paramount+ are the two best options for watching the Grammys. However, YouTube TV, FuboTV, and Hulu with Live TV, also offer access to CBS. This is for the main Grammys Awards Show that begins at 8:00 PM EST. However, there is another portion of the Grammys called the premiere ceremony.
The premiere ceremony stars before the actual awards show. It will take place at 3:30 p.m. ET/12:30 p.m. PT on Sunday April 3rd. This ceremony is basically the Grammys before the Grammys. It will be hosted by LeVar Burton and will present the vast majority of awards in a very short time period. Additionally, it will offer live performances from nominees Madison Cunningham, Falu, Nnenna Freelon, Kalani Pe’a, John Popper, and The Isaacs. This ceremony will be livestreamed on Grammy.com and the Recording Academy’s YouTube Channel.
