You may be playing Pokemon in 3D that much sooner if the rumor mill is right, and the news keeps getting curiouser and curiouser. CVG, a UK-based gamer blog, is reporting that the upcoming Nintendo 3DS, originally (or still, for the skeptics) slated for an early 2011 release might see the light of day by this October, six months early and just in time for the Christmas season.

Nintendo, of course, told CVG their story was “rumour and speculation,” but that didn’t stop them. While an official announcement on Nintendo’s part won’t be heard until E3 this June, CVG’s sources tell them that an early release means Nintendo is confident in their product.

“You don’t launch a product that early to Christmas unless you’re confident in it,” said the unnamed source, “and going to spend a lot of money on it.”

Grain — or shaker — of salt? At the ready! Until then, Nintendo, we’ll see you at E3.
