I mean, did you really think they could keep up the effort of being that awesome on a rigid reality TV filming schedule? I know I couldn’t.
Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen have wrapped their fabulous NYC tour after a run on Broadway in Waiting for Godot but why should the fun stop there? Well for one, it hasn’t. They play the Newlywed Game and were having quite a bit of fun on the X-Men: Days of Future Past tour. But in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly for McKellen’s new small-screen project Vicious (“I hope that Stuart doesn’t get jealous of the bromance Stateside,” he said of his fictional partner played by Derek Jacobi), they asked:
People loved the Twitter photo series of you two during your Broadway runs of Waiting for Godot and No Man’s Land. Would you ever consider doing a travel show or another non-dramatic project with him?
I don’t know, it would be nice to do something similar here. I’ve been asked recently to do a number of things which are not to do with acting, particularly on television—presenting and so on. That’s not what I really do best or what I want to do. I enjoy acting. I wouldn’t want to become a TV bore, who turns up everywhere on chat shows and quiz shows and documentaries and so on. No, I think I’ll stick to being an actor.
No, Sir Ian! You’ve got it all wrong! Do all the things!
Seriously though, could you imagine a reality show or other sort of unscripted project starring these two? Traveling around the U.S., popping in people’s houses for dinner, or just…sitting together in a room and talking? I will be dreaming of this tonight.
