A Moana Song, “Gaston,” and More: Highlights From Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Disney Instagram Takeover

Lin-Manuel Miranda took over the Disney Animation Instagram over the weekend, filling it with a copious amount of Disney song covers, geeking out about Disney legends, and a lot of love for his co-workers. Miranda is currently working on two Disney productions: Moana and Mary Poppins Returns. In true Lin-Manuel Miranda fashion, the Hamilton star began with an Instagram of his dog Tobillo and moved on to other gems like Cuban coffee and the “mind-bending dystopia of Chuggington.” Here are some other great moments, like his realization that Instagram’s character limit (there is one, but it’s super long) gives him infinite possibilities for social media magic:

Geeking out about Disney legends Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, and then John Musker and Ron Clemments. (Stars! They’re just like us!):

And finally, lots and lots of Disney songs. Miranda crushes all of them in such a way that you know he probably sings all the parts of these songs all the time and knows all the lyrics by heart. Particularly exciting, however, is when he teases a bit of a gorgeous song from Moana with the cast and his rendition of “Gaston” with The Rock as Gaston! I also loved how he did the voices in “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from Mulan, but definitely head over to the Instagram page to see Miranda also take on Aladdin, Newsies, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and more.

And to close it out, here’s a new one from #moana with @auliicravalho & @therock! Thanks for letting me play on the #linstagram! #dreamscometrue
