There are many days when I hate Twitter, but today is not that day. The social network was made for events like Donald Trump Jr. Tweeting out emails that show he purposefully met with a Russian government attorney who was offering damaging information on Hillary Clinton—that he was aware of the Russian effort to help his father’s campaign way before the American people knew anything about it. Here are my favorite 140-character commentaries.
In case you missed Trump Jr.’s original Tweets that set off this firestorm:
Holy. Shit. https://t.co/pouXnmKNxY

Anyone who has ever received a work email …
hey don jr just wanted to circle back about the treason

What a time to be alive, amiright?
TWITTER, 2009: this is neat, Shaq responds to people and stuff!
TWITTER, 2017: the insane president’s idiot son is live-tweeting treason— actioncookbook (@actioncookbook) July 11, 2017
The Limericking Twitter is always golden. This limerick emerged yesterday, before we saw Trump Jr.’s emails but knew he’d attended the meeting. What a difference a day makes! This remains evergreen.
A chap at the president’s side
Who earlier publicly lied
Now says though he hid
The business he did,
He didn’t collude—he just tried.— Limericking (@Limericking) July 10, 2017
Donald Trump Jr. should definitely show the world what a fake news left-wing conspiracy the idea that anything is off in his dad’s tax returns by Tweeting them next!
No one on the left thinks u’ll also tweet out ur dad’s taxes. That’d be too cool & brave!!
Only Ivanka could do that.

More emails emerged:
To: Don Jr
From: Svetlana Spyface
Dear Don:
we will for helping you with much illegal spy. No?From: Don Jr
Cool, let’s do the illegal!

I’ve always wanted to be a woman in a bonnet holding a torch and screaming “TREASON” in a mob so actually 2017 looks bright for me

YESSS.

At this point never say never.
Donald Trump Jr is like 2 seconds away from having his briefcase pop open and spill a bunch of rubles all over the street

Jokes aside, this is the most important takeaway to keep in mind. Keep bringing the conversation back to this:
The email shows: They knew. All along, they knew. They knew Russia preferred Trump. They knew Russia offered to help. All along, they knew.

Adjacent info, but important—and ironic, considering we have learned this week from The Daily Beast that some in Trump’s inner circle derisively call Donnie Jr.’s “Fredo,” after Don Corleone’s “insecure and weak failure of a son” in The Godfather.
Donald Trump Jr’s new lawyer has repped alleged members of 4 out of 5 NY mafia families: Bonanno, Gambino, Genovese and Colombo. https://t.co/25vI9JglCy

Live, from New York, with your host Fredo Trump:
A fmr Clinton Campaign official says news of Donald Trump Jr. emails “is the SNL version of what we always suspected was going on.”

I mean, is anything real anymore? What is the nature of reality? Are you real? Am I?

And finally, this might be my favorite Tweet of all, considering the never-ending screeching from the right (and the Trumps) over Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server:
If Trump gets taken down by emails I will believe in a God and that She is a poet.

I don’t know about you, but I feel like today was the day Twitter truly became presidential.
