Everyone loves a good, tearful dog movie, but there are just as many wonderful movie cats that deserve all the internet love. With their slinky movements and sassy personalities, many of these on-screen cats have captured the hearts of audiences, whether it was the sadness of losing Mufasa in The Lion King or the delight of the musical Aristocats.

Burger Fiction shared a video compilation showcasing some of the cats of cinema from the leopard of 1938’s Bringing Up Baby to that weird talking cat genre that includes the 2001 film Cats & Dogs starring Jeff Goldblum (yeah, remember that movie existed?) and last year’s Nine Lives voiced by Kevin Spacey. Naturally, there are also plenty of iconic animated cats, from black cat familiar Jiji of Kiki’s Delivery Service to the mischievous Chesire Cat of Disney’s Alice in Wonderland. The X-Men 2 cat and internet phenomenon Grumpy Cat make an appearance as well.

Naturally, the comments are full of names of cats that didn’t make the final cut, like all the cats from Studio Ghibli’s The Cat Returns to the boy-turned-cat Thackery Binx of Hocus Pocus. The account writes in one response, “we had a TON we didn’t end up putting in the final cut. [T]here are just too many movie cats, so we narrowed it to our favorites and ones we found iconic, and we’ll have to save the rest for future videos!” If they do decide to do a follow-up, there’s definitely no end to the number of beloved movie cats out there.
