Looks Like Zombieland Might be Getting that Television Show After All

Did you know that one of the conditions Woody Harrelson demanded for accepting his role in Zombieland was that director Ruben Fleischer go without eating dairy products for a week?

Did you know that Zombieland is the highest grossing zombie movie the United States has ever paid money for?

Did you know that it was initially going to be a television show?

Well, either way, it might reach that goal anyway.

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers behind Zombieland, have been upfront about their desire to continue it as a franchise in some way, whether it be as a sequel or a television series. Both Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg were talking about definitely coming back for a sequel two years ago, but nothing came of it. Rumblings of a possible television project began to surface, possibly to air late last year, but those also bore little fruit. Today, however, io9 has gotten its hands on script pages being used during the casting process for a Zombieland show, a casting process that apparently began yesterday.

All in all, it’s very much in keeping with the style of humor of the film — and more importantly, the characters feel much the same. And at the same time, it sounds as though moving the romance between Columbus and Wichita forward will be a major focus of the TV show, and the relationships among the four main characters will probably become a bit sweeter and more like a family as the show goes on.
