Celebrate Ada Lovelace Day With Some Awesome Science-related T-Shirts
Really, we should be getting a day off for Lovelace instead of Columbus. She's way cooler.
October 15th is Ada Lovelace day. Do you not know who Ada Lovelace is? For shame! She’s only the the 19th century mathematician who basically invented the world’s first computer, and on her day every year, we celebrate awesome women in science, engineering, and math. Amorphia Apparel decided to do their part with a bunch of awesome T-shirt designs.
First we’ve got the “Monsters of Grok” series, which uses famous fonts and styles associated with famous rock bands to celebrate awesome female scientists:
Get it? It’s Curie, but it’s designed like The Cure. Genius.
Then there’s the “Hirsute history” series, which presents minimalist depictions of female scientists as rendered with silhouettes of their iconic hairstyles. (They’ve got some for male scientists too, but come on, guy, this is a day for awesome ladies):
I don’t know about you guys, but every time I hear about how cool Hedy Lamarr is, I can’t help but think “It’s Hedley!“ in my head.
Finally there’s a great set of badass “Science!” tees for those of us who just have too many male and female scientist heroes to pick one.
Our personal favorite? The “germ wrangler” on the top left.
All the shirts are available on the Amorphia Apparel website, and if you order a couple in the next few days, you’ll qualify for free shipping. Each of the female scientist-based shirts also has a great description of the careers and achievements of these awesome ladies, so even if you’re not going to buy anything, you should go over and learn yourself some knowledge about Chien Shiung-Wu and Valentina Tereshkova.
