Agent Carter Casts That Guy From One Tree Hill and That Other Guy From Dollhouse

They know what we like.

We know someone of you were willing to love Agent Carter from the moment you saw the words “Peggy Carter-led television series” in print. But for those of you who aren’t so quick to jump on a Marvel Universe-set WWII period spy thriller bandwagon, can we interest you in some more super talented actors to round out the cast? Yeah? We bet you’ll like ’em.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, One Tree Hill‘s Chad Michael Murray has been cast in the show as Agent Jack Thompson, while Dollhouse‘s Enver Gjokaj will play Agent Daniel Sousa. Both characters will meet Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter as she joins the SHIELD Strategic Scientific Reserve in New York. Here are the character descriptions from Film Divider a few months ago:

Agent Jack Thompson is in his 30s, handsome and damn well knows it. The polar opposite of Dooley, he doesn’t take kindly to women in the workplace, nor how little recognition he gets. Worse, he wants Dooley’s job and is desperate to prove himself.

Daniel Sousa is everything Jack Thompson wants to be. He’s a war hero who walks using a leg brace, but finds dealing with office politics to be harder than working around his injury. Sousa is also a fiercely honourable, gentle man and we’re betting he becomes one of Peggy’s major allies.

Both are pretty great choices for each character as far as I’m concerned. They’re no strangers to the nerd scene, either; while typically thought of as your generic handsome dreamboat type, Murray’s a big fan of comics who even wrote his own graphic novel, Everlast, back in 2011. Anyone who saw Dollhouse knows that Gjokaj’s acting talent is bar none, too, but he also had a small part in the Avengers as one of the cops during the movie’s Chitauri-filled third act and can currently be seen on Extant.

Agent Carter is expected to air sometime during Agents of SHIELD‘s winter hiatus as a gap show. It’s really too bad the show’s not getting a full run—it was already bound to be great, but if they keep casting talent like this, it might just blow SHIELD out of the water. There’s probably a HYDRA joke to be made in there somewhere. Get it? Water, HYDRA… no, okay. They can’t all be winners.
