You may recall the Bombshells started as a really great collectables statue line designed by Ant Lucia which turned into other variant covers and some amazing cosplay. But now, actual comics! According to DC, this summer will see an ongoing Bombshells series written by Marguerite Bennett joining the Digital First comic line-up with art by Marguerite Sauvage.
Bombshells chapters will be available digitally in July and in print August 12th, and will feature “retro-bombshell versions of Batwoman, Wonder Woman and Supergirl in an alternate reality where super-powered female heroes are on the front lines in WWII.” Yes, yes, put this in our eye-holes immediately.
In a press release, Bennett explained:
DC Comics Bombshells is one of the wildest things I’ve ever had the pleasure to create—a story of the DC heroines, all the DC heroines, in a crisis that defines themselves as well as their generation. I cannot possibly tell you how excited and grateful I am to be involved in a story this massive and inventive. The series will explore war stories, romances, mysteries, heists, action adventure, and horror in a way that only these characters could do—I cannot wait for this book to drop. Pun very much intended.
August will also see the arrival of DC’s second month of gorgeous Bombshell-celebratory variant covers. Feast your peepers, friends:
