Hey Students: Free Amazon Prime for a Year

Recommended Videos

If you haven’t already heard, Amazon.com is currently offering a pretty sweet deal to currently enrolled students. Provide them with a valid .edu email address, a college or university, and a major, and you can get Amazon Prime free for one year under the name “Amazon Student.”

For those not familiar with the service, Amazon Prime lets you get free two-day shipping for many Amazon items, with a one-day shipping upgrade of $3.99 per item and some occasional exclusive offers; normally, it costs $79 for a year-long subscription.

If you’re currently an Amazon customer but don’t have your .edu email address hooked up to Amazon, don’t worry: You only need your .edu address to receive and confirm a verification email.

Beyond being a student, note that the one string attached here appears to be Amazon Student’s “e-mail alerts for discounts and promotions”: In Amazon’s words, “If you don’t want any more Amazon Student e-mails, you may cancel your Amazon Student membership. If you do this, your Amazon Prime benefits will also end when the membership is canceled.”

Check out the promotion at Amazon Student.
