Soothe Yourself With The Gentle Song of Space Whales
Panacée, a short animated film from Vimeo user NALEB (a.k.a Jules Boulain-Adenis), brings two explorer-astronauts named Alpha and Nova to a deserted, alien world. The women wander the planet until they find a truly magical remainder of the its biodiversity.
This gentle, elegant little piece captured all the wonder and strangeness that science fiction and fantasy can provide.
For now, the only dialogue is in French, but Boulain-Adenis wrote that English subtitles should be available next week (if you’d like to wait). Personally, I actually sort of liked that I couldn’t understand what they were saying, because it just let me drift with the lovely animation. The music, the colors, and the style created a mesmerizing atmosphere that didn’t require any dialogue to understand or enjoy. But your mileage may vary.
It’s a perfect Sunday afternoon short, so treat yourself to a five-minute break.
