Anna Paquin Doesn’t Mind Getting Left Out of X-Men and Gambit — But Would Love To Return
Anna Paquin filmed a lot of scenes as Rogue for X-Men: Days of Future Past, and although they made it into the “Rogue Cut” special edition, they’re not in the final version — and Paquin doesn’t mind. She told IGN, “I think other people were more offended by that. I’m like, ‘I don’t want to be in the plot line that doesn’t work!'”
She’s also a pretty good sport about the fact that she won’t be appearing in Channing Tatum’s Gambit, either. But she’d still love to come back to the cinematic world of X-Men, if it’s ever possible:
I have had a great time on all of those films that I’ve been part of. Those are people that are very dear to me. If it happens that that’s something that makes sense for whichever of the 700 different X-Men projects that are happening, which I personally can’t keep track of, then that’s great. If not, they’re still fun to watch …
I would come back and do whatever. These are people I’ve known for half my life. I have a lot of love for my X-Men family. I realistically wouldn’t really care what it was if they were getting the whole gang back together kind of thing. On a side note personally, I would really like to fly because flying’s cool.
Apparently, Paquin has been asking if she can fly as Rogue ever since she first appeared in the films at age 16. Doesn’t seem like that’s in the cards, though.
Speaking of cards, a Gambit movie without a Rogue sounds pretty weird to me. Maybe they’ll cast someone other than Paquin as Rogue? Personally, I like Paquin’s Rogue a lot, so I’d like to see her in the role, but the complicated canon of the movies might make that tricky. What do you all think?
