You’ll Never Guess Who Anne Rice Wants To Play The Vampire Lestat
Just Go With It
I apologize for what you’ve just seen.
Anne Rice, author of The Vampire Chronicles, recently announced she’d be writing about Lestat di Lioncourt again with a new novel, Prince Lestat. It’s meant to be set after the Queen of the Damned novel, which was the second of Rice’s vampire works to be turned into a film.
Stuart Townsend played Lestat in that version while many more will remember Tom Cruise’s incarnation years earlier in Interview with the Vampire. But if, and this is big if, there was another film made based on Rice’s books, who would she want to play the main man?
Thor’s Chris Hemsorth and Arrow’s Stephen Amell.
Looks like she’s a bit of a superhero fanboy, eh?
The revelation came on Rice’s Facebook page after she posted a contest asking her fans to propose who should play Lestat. They posted names like Sleepy Hollow’s Tom Mison, True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard, and Jared Leto but here’s what Rice finally said:
I love all the Lestats you’re posting on the page, the handsome actors and charmers. But let us not forget Chris Hemsworth who has Lestat’s square face, cheerful eyes, and voice. And let us not forget Stephen Amell either who also greatly resembles Lestat and has the body and face of a god; and also Anson Mount who seemed at times to be Lestat prowling the frontier in “Hell on Wheels.”
Could you imagine any of these actors vamping it up on the big screen?
