‘Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania’ Release Date, Plot, Cast, and More
San Diego Comic-Con 2022 brought us a bevy of Marvel news, including new updates about the third installment in the Ant-Man series, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The film will premiere on February 17, 2023 as the first movie of Marvel’s Phase Five. A new poster from Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development & Concept Artist Andy Park hit social media this weekend to promote the film:
At the Hall H panel at SDCC, Kevin Feige shares a first look trailer (for SDCC audiences only). In the trailer, we see that Scott Lang has written a book about his adventures as an Avenger, called Look Out for the Little Guy. But his daughter Cassie is unimpressed, and feels estranged from her dad after the Blip. Eventually, the Lang and Pym family get sucked into the quantum realm, where they meet a host of new characters and face off against new Big Bad, Kang the Conqueror.
Most of the cast from previous Ant-Man films return, including Paul Rudd as Scott/Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne/Wasp, Michelle Pfeiffer as her mother and O.G. Wasp Janet Van Dyne, and Michael Douglas as dad and inventor Hank Pym. Cassie Lang, Scott’s daughter, also returns, but this time she’s played by Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies, Blockers). The character was previously played by Abby Ryder Fortson in Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp, and then played by Emma Fuhrmann in Avengers: Endgame. Other new additions include Jonathan Majors (Lovecraft Country) as Kang, a variant of whom was introduced in season one of Loki as He Who Remains. In addition, the iconic Bill Murray will appear in an undisclosed villain role. It’s unclear if Michael Peña will reprise his role as Scott’s friend Luis, but we’re hoping so. And there will be an appearance by cult-favorite Marvel bad guy M.O.D.O.K. No casting has been announced for M.O.D.O.K. yet – the character previously had his own stop-animation show on Hulu where he was voiced by Patton Oswalt.
Other plot developments we can look out for include Cassie’s superhero debut as Stinger/Stature, where she dons a suit similar to Scott’s with the same shrinking abilities. Quantumania looks to be a family affair, with three generations of Pyms/Langs getting on on the action. We’re excited to see where the franchise goes.
