Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the third installment in Marvel’s Ant-Man trilogy, comes out on February 17, 2023, and the first trailer dropped at Disney’s D23 Expo, and now we’ve got one for the public! Here’s all the amazing stuff we noticed in the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer.

Scott Lang is a celebrity

(Marvel Entertainment)

When the trailer opens, Scott is enjoying his newfound fame as an Avenger. People say hi to him on the street, he gets to attend galas with Hope, he gets named “Employee of the Year” at his old workplace Baskin-Robbins, and people thank him for his service … thinking that he’s Spider-Man. Ah well, you can’t have it all.

Cassie plugs into the quantum realm

(Marvel Entertainment)

After we learn about Scott’s hard-earned success, his daughter Cassie calls the whole Ant-gang down into her lab for an announcement. As Scott, Hope, Hank, and Janet all gather, Cassie tells them that she’s invented a kind of two-way radio to the Quantum Realm. Janet immediately grows very concerned, and barks at her to turn it off. But it’s too late—they all get sucked into her transmitter.

Turns out there’s a lot more to the Quantum Realm than we saw in Ant-Man and the Wasp! When Scott rescued Janet in the last movie, it looked like a barren wasteland. Now, though, we see an entire civilization. There are plants, a futuristic city, spaceships, and lots of Quantum residents walking around in amazing outfits—including Bill Murray’s character Krylar. Janet describes it as “a secret universe underneath ours.” She’s nervous, though, and after the gang changes their clothes to fit in, she puts a hood over her head to hide her face. We hear a voiceover telling us the Quantum Realm isn’t what we think it is, and that voice turns out to belong to…

KANG!

(Marvel Entertainment)

Jonathan Majors’s Kang has been one of the most hotly anticipated new(ish) characters in Marvel’s Multiverse Saga, and we finally get our first glimpse of him. He first appears wearing a version of his classic helmet from the comics, and then he seems to offer Scott a deal. “I can get you home and offer you more time if you help me. So what’s it gonna be, Ant-Man?”

Kang made his first appearance in Loki Season 1, although that version of him went by the moniker He Who Remains. We know from Loki that this variant is going to be a ruthless conqueror who may have already begun a multiversal war.

Interestingly, this trailer is a bit different from the trailer that was shown at Disney’s D23 Expo. In that trailer, we see Scott and Cassie being held prisoner in some kind of dungeon. Kang appears and asks Scott, “Have I killed you before? I’ve killed so many Avengers they all bleed together.” Then Kang offers Scott a deal, telling him that “someone stole something from me, and you’re the only one who can get it back.” Who’s the thief? What did they steal? We don’t know yet, but when Scott declines to work with Kang, Kang begins to punish him by slamming him against the wall.

Will we see that footage in a future trailer, or has Marvel changed the movie a bit since D23? Stay tuned for more details!
