This Anti-SOPA Petition Would Take Down Whitehouse.gov Under SOPA
One of the many issues with SOPA that is so offensive is that it allows any and all sites with links to copyrighted content to be summarily blocked. A recent amendment has made this even more egregious, allowing ISPs to block entire domains even when a court order specifies one certain link or page. The petition, which provides a link to this copyrighted image in its description, would, under SOPA, classify Whitehouse.gov as a rogue site and flag it for censorship. Need I say more?
It would be pretty hard to come up with a more succinct way to illustrate the absurdity of the proposed act and hopefully, the message will hit home. I mean, if SOPA were to pass, what would stop angry cyber-protesters from posting said links everywhere, right? Might as well go give the petition your signature as well, and make it more likely to make its way to eyes that matter. The SOPA hearings are due to resume this Wednesday, and if it passes committee vote, it’ll be on its way to the House floor unaltered. Don’t pass up this opportunity to make your voice heard and endorse a pretty righteous troll on the U.S. government.
- SOPA was bad to begin with
- It doesn’t look like it will get any better
- And has actually been getting worse
