Pop star Ariana Grande just keeps on surprising us in the best possible ways. Last week, she posted a long essay on Twitter speaking out against some irritating sexist comments she experienced while out on the town with her boyfriend—and that’s far from the first time she’s spoken out against the objectification of women and sexist double standards in society. Yesterday, she posted a delightful surprise to her Instagram: there’s going to be a character inspired by her in the Final Fantasy universe! I’m sure gamers everywhere will be thrilled that a pop star who frequently speaks out against sexism will be joining the world of video games. … Right? Right.

Anyway, the character will be named “DW,” after Ariana Grande’s album and hit single “Dangerous Woman,” and she will appear in the iOS/Android game Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius, which came out a little over a year ago. Grande posted some animations of the new character, who wears a costume similar to the one that Grande wears on the cover of her Dangerous Woman album. She also wears the outfit in this a cappella video that she recorded of herself singing “Dangerous Woman,” just in case you had any doubt that she’s got an incredible singing voice with no additional production flourishes required!

In addition to the animations of the character, Grande posted this photo of herself meeting with the game’s designers, captioning it as follows:

“pretty lil thing holds her own in a room of men in suits ♡ 👋🏼 I’m SO so excited to finally share that I’ll be featured in FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS *crying* 🌌♡ check out my character in the game, it’s the cutest thing i’ve ever seen in my entire life and i’m so excited and in love with it i cannot contain myself.”

You gotta love that Ariana Grande snuck in a little dig at the fact that she’s the only woman in a room full of dude designers. I have no doubt she held her own in there, as she says.

I have no idea how this particular partnership came about—is Ariana Grande a Final Fantasy fan???—but I’m definitely curious to find out more about the character that she designed with the FF developers. DW isn’t in the game yet, but presumably more details will emerge soon about that.
