First Image of Michael Fassbender in the Assassin’s Creed Movie Does Not Instill Us With Confidence
SHHHHHHH. Stop laughing. He's trying to brood.
Some day, in some distant time, video game movies will succeed comic book movies and have their own oversaturated golden age—and they’ll range in quality largely from mediocre to great, and everything will be awesome. Unfortunately, we’re stuck in the present.
So along comes this first image of Michael Fassbender in the Assassin’s Creed movie, wherein both his face and his outfit appear to be computer-rendered and Photoshopped together. And don’t forget all of the blank, vaguely dark and moody stares you can muster!
To be fair, I’m not actually going to judge this movie based on a single still shot, and maybe this is just a rendering or concept art; the film is only just about to start shooting. No, I’m judging this movie based on the fact that I still have no faith in video game movie adaptations, and Assassin’s Creed has always seemed a bit overwrought and silly to me anyway—and this image has done nothing to alter that opinion.
But maybe I’m wrong. What do you think?
