Avatar: The Last Airbender Dark Horse Comic Will Bridge the Series and The Legend of Korra
There's an appa for that
If you’ve been disappointed that there was nothing tying the original series for Avatar: The Last Airbender and the new series, The Legend of Korra, and that you wouldn’t be getting any more official stories with the Aang Gang, be disappointed no more: Dark Horse and Nickelodeon have announced a new comic series that will bridge the two and you’ll only have to wait until next January. After the jump, more info about the story and a look at the cover.
With assistance from the original series creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the new book, Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Promise, will be written by award-winning graphic novelist Gene Luen Yang (American Born Chinese, Level Up) and will be drawn by the Japanese artists at Gurihiru, which has also drawn several Marvel titles. It is being considered an official continuation of the original series that aired from 2005 to 2008, and will lead directly up to The Legend of Korra, which will air later in 2012. This story will begin with Aang & Co. in conflict with the Fire Nation again and a potential war that threatens the entire world, “testing all of Aang’s powers and ingenuity.”
