New Avengers: Endgame Teaser Finally Acknowledges the Obvious

Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes in Captain America: The First Avenger

The new teaser for Avengers: Endgame brings back some of those we lost, and now that we’ve listened closely, one thing is very clear. For the first time in the promotions for Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers says, “Today we have a chance to take it all back. Whatever it takes”—the first time Marvel has let out any specific acknowledgment of the obvious: that the movie isn’t just about taking Thanos down, but about undoing The Snap.

We know that Marvel has said in the past that the deaths in Avengers: Infinity War may be permanent, and many of us pretended like that didn’t exist, hoping that we would see Peter Parker, Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson, T’Challa, Groot, and more of our favorite characters alive and well again.

The problem is that all of the promotional trailers and images have conveniently left out any hope of them going back and reversing the snap. If anything, they have insinuated that the remaining Avengers would take on Thanos and … that’d be it. But now, with this new teaser, we can see some of our old favorites on the screen again, and Steve’s quote gives us a new sense of hope.

Thanks, Marvel!

Here’s my thing: This is the first time we’re seeing T’Challa and Bucky Barnes in a promotional aspect of the movie. Sure, Stephen Strange also hasn’t been featured, but that’s Stephen so … whatever. But T’Challa and Bucky are surprising because, in the last trailer, we saw that both Steve and Okoye had a moment where they watched as their best friends perished, and … neither Bucky nor T’Challa were featured.

Personally, I’m happy we got a quick moment of Bucky, because I thought my life as a Bucky fan was going to be rough with this press tour. Then again, there are so many fan favorites we watched get snapped away. All this means is that our hopes of seeing T’Challa, Wanda, Bucky, Peter, and more may come true in Avengers: Endgame after all.
