A Video Game Speedrun Marathon Raised Over $1 Million for Charity, Video Games Save Lives, People
It's not a hobby. It's important cancer research.
What could be better than racing to see if you can get a world record clear time in some of your favorite games? Doing it for charity and saving lives, for sure. Awesome Games Done Quick raised over one million dollars for cancer research last week as players competed in a huge live streaming speedrun event.
You can still donate to the Prevent Cancer Foundation on the Awesome Games Done Quick website and help them Falcon punch cancer in the gut, and the Speed Demos Archive channel is still streaming live speedruns that you can watch right now, even though the event is officially over.

To catch up on what you missed, you can watch a whole bunch of the speedruns right here to see insane clear times for classic games like Ocarina of Time and Super Metroid. If modern games are more your thing, they also competed in Skyrim, Portal, and more.
