Morena Baccarin & Allison Janney Join Melissa McCarthy In Spy Comedy, Will Then Take Over The World
Together At Last
C.J. and Inara! C.J. and Inara!
Ok, I guess Allison Janney and Morena Baccarin have done some cool stuff since The West Wing and Firefly, but I will always have a warm spot in my heart for them thanks to those roles. But this? This is very exciting.
Previously referred to as Susan Cooper, the comedy from director Paul Feig, is now being called simply Spy. It’s meant to be the James Bond version of what The Heat was for buddy-cop films. So far, the cast includes Rose Byrne, Jason Statham, Jude Law, Nia Long, Miranda Hart, and 50 Cent.
Crazy, right? “The movie centers on a CIA analyst, played by McCarthy, who goes into the field for the first time,” writes The Hollywood Reporter. “Baccarin will play one of the agency’s top spies who is also extremely deadly.” Of Janney, Deadline reports she’ll “play top CIA agent Elaine Crocker in the comedy. Playing to the actress’ vast strengths, the character is described as tough but with a biting sense of humor.”
Baccarin is voicing Talia al Ghul in Son of Batman, the next feature from Warner Bros. Animation while Janney is currently starring on the CBS comedy, Mom. Spy is already filming and they’re aiming for a Memorial Day release in 2015. Loving all the lady spies!
