The BBC Got To John Barrowman, Now Says He’s Not In The Doctor Who Anniversary Episode
The World Doesn't End Because the Doctor Dances
He should have run.
Hey, remember when John Barrowman said he’d been talking with the BBC about the Doctor Who anniversary? And then we though, “Uh oh, he probably shouldn’t have said that.” And then his sister was like, “The BBC are pissed.”
Yeah.
Yesterday, Barrowman tweeted, “I will not be involved in the 50th Anniversary Episode of Dr WHO.”
Now, we have to remember, while Barrowman said he and the BBC were talking, he was sure to follow up after the previous news broke by saying, “Re 50th I didn’t say in what capacity or what medium so stay calm and carry on.”
All this means is, the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary episode is shaping up to be just another episode and not include past characters coming back for cameos. Steven Moffat said about as much in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly saying, “It is important you don’t turn it into a fanfest…We can’t make this all about looking backwards. It’s actually got to be the start of a new story.”
I can get behind that to a certain extent but without knowing whether old characters will return in an off-shoot story or simply as the actors themselves in retrospective interviews or whatever, I’m a little worried the anniversary won’t be as epic as I’d hoped.
