Another Batman Villain Is Revealed For The Dark Knight Rises Thanks To An 8-Year-Old Kid

Movies really like to pack in villains these days, don’t they? Remember when it was the norm for one hero to go up against one adversary? Turns out, another Batman villain will be making an appearance in Christopher Nolan’s Batman swan-song, The Dark Knight Rises. How do we know this? A little kid’s mom spilled the beans. No, seriously. Read on for the big spoiler.

So we already know Tom Hardy is depicting the juiced-up supervillain Bane in the film. We got a cool new teaser poster featuring him over the weekend. We also know Anne Hathaway is playing Selina Kyle (Catwoman) though we don’t know whether she’ll be working with Christian Bale’s Batman, against him or both. And even Cillian Murphy is back as the Scarecrow. Now, thanks to a concerned stage mom, we know about one more. It’s something we here at The Mary Sue were sure of when we heard the original casting news but here’s confirmation.

The mother of eight-year-old actress Leilah De Meza is quoted in the Surrey Comet saying her daughter was offered the role of a “young Talia al Ghul.”

After careful consideration we turned it down as they were insistent that Leilah had to shave all her hair off. We were prepared to have it cut short but not shaved at such a young age. We were concerned how this could have affected Leilah’s confidence and general social welfare.

Now, we’re not sure why they’d require a child actress to shave her head when you can wear a bald cap or why a young Talia (the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul) would be bald at all (perhaps something to do with her training) but either way the news is out.

A while back, Marion Cotillard was cast as Wayne Enterprises executive Miranda Tate and none of us believe that’s who she’ll actually wind up being in the film. Much like Liam Neeson was cast as Henri Ducard but revealed as Ra’s al Ghul in Batman Begins, the logical assumptions are being made the same will happen with Cotillard.

That part’s not confirmed of course but regardless, Talia is in The Dark Knight Rises. Thoughts?
