These Behind-The-Scenes Photos From The Force Awakens Are a Perfect Endnote
Since The Force Awakens has been in theaters for at least two weeks now, it seems like just about the right time for us to be rewarded with more behind-the-scenes goodies, right? And now we’re getting them courtesy of Dan Mindel, the director of photography on the film–who’s been posting some fantastic images from the set for us to gaze at and appreciate.
These photos also allude to just how much the film strived towards authenticity and less from special effects or CGI–with those few notable exceptions. There’s still a lot that can be said for trying to ground TFA in as much realness as possible, and these pics are a good example of that.
The last one is my favorite especially–I’d read from interviews with the actors that real illumination was provided for the lightsabers in this movie and enhanced later on rather than the sticks that were later changed using special effects, but it’s another thing to see the evidence in person.
You can check out more images at Mindel’s Instagram feed.
