What You Need to Know About the National #BelieveSurvivors Walkout, Happening Today

Today at 1pm Eastern, people across the country are encouraged to walk out of their workplace, school, home, or wherever else they may be, in solidarity with Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez, the women who have come forward with allegations of sexual assault against Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh. There is a flagship event in Washington D.C. at the Senate Hart Atrium, with smaller events across the country. You can check out the Facebook event page for details.

But you don’t even need to find an official gathering to take part in the protest. Everyone is invited to wear black (if possible, as this is happening soon), walk out, and–if you feel safe doing so–post a photo or video to social media, using the hashtag #BelieveSurvivors. Even if you can’t walk out, you can still post a photo or video. There is power in our solidarity, and in letting the Senate Republicans know we aren’t going to stand for their disrespectful disregard for survivors of sexual harassment and assault.

Will you be taking part in the walk-out? If so, make sure to share your photos, videos, or other social media posts with us on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
