Ben-Hur Remake Wants To Bless The World With A Chariot-Driving Tom Hiddleston
Swing low.
MGM and Paramount cannot hide their feelings for Tom Hiddleston any longer: they want him to appear in their upcoming Ben-Hur remake, and they want it bad, which is probably a good call. If you’re bent on remaking one of the most classic movie epics ever in under a year and a half (the film is due out for February of 2016), it’s probably best to secure a beloved star in the titular role. Just to give yourself a little leg-up.
Luckily, Ben-Hur does have some exciting names attached already: Timur Bekmambetov of the vampire franchise Night Watch is slated to direct, and 12 Years A Slave‘s Oscar-winning writer John Ridley will be adapting the script.
With his classic acting chops as well as experience in big-budget action films, Hiddleston seems like one of the few people who could adequately fill Charlton Heston’s sandals, though unfortunately he’s also already linked to another MGM project, Me Before You. Here’s hoping that Hiddles manages to find room on his already-crowded dance card.
