Darth Cumberbatch, We Barely Knew Ye: Actor’s Rep Shoots Down Star Wars VII Casting Rumor
TK-421 Why Aren't You At Your Post?
You may have heard the rumor this weekend that Benedict Cumberbatch would be doubling up on playing bad guys in J.J. Abrams movies with Star in the title by appearing as the villain in Star Wars: Episode VII. Alas for the Cumberbabes, it’s not true. See what a spokesperson for the actor had to say about the rumor behind the jump.
“There is no truth to the rumour Benedict has been cast in Star Wars. I think the rumours are circling because J.J. and Benedict have just recently had a wonderful time working together on Star Trek.”
So no new Cumbervillain in Star Wars. He’s a great actor, but I can’t say I’m not pleased that Abrams is giving some other (hopefully) great actor a chance. It’d be distracting if reboot [should I still spoiler cut the identity of the Cumbervillain ’cause the movie’s not out on DVD yet? Oh, fine. Better safe than sorry.] KHAAAAAAAAN showed up in Episode VII. Keep your Trek out of my Wars, Abrams! Only one actor is allowed to cross the streams, and that’s George Takei. He’s already done it, after all, plus he’s the broker of star peace.
Oh, and Deep Roy, too. He’s allowed.
