The Opening Sequence for Disney XD’s Big Hero 6 Is Full of San Fransokyo Action and Baymax Hugs

Disney XD’s Big Hero 6 series is an exciting addition to their list of shows which include other greats like DuckTales, Spider-Man, and Star vs. the Forces of Evil. The program released the opening credits of the new series, and it’s full of action and Baymax cuteness.

The show will pick up right where the film left off (and unfortunately not an alternative universe where one the saddest deaths of all times never happened). Here’s the synopsis:

“As the new kid at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, Hiro faces daunting academic challenges at the prestigious “nerd school” and the social trials of being the “little man on campus.” Luckily, Hiro has his brains, his ingenuity and his best friend bot to help him find his way. But it’s off campus where things get dangerous. Along with neat freak Wasabi, bubbly mad scientist Honey Lemon, fanboy Fred and no nonsense Go Go, the friends form an unlikely, but awesome super hero team – Big Hero 6. Together they face madness and mayhem as a colorful array of science-enhanced villains threaten San Fransokyo.”

It’s especially exciting for fans of the movie to hear that Maya Rudolph, Alan Tudyk, Scott Adsit, Ryan Potter, and Jamie Chung are all reprising their original roles, along with Stan Lee as Fred’s dad. T.J. Miller and Damon Wayans Jr. will not be returning to their roles of Fred and Wasabi, but will be replaced by SNL’s Brooks Whelan and The Walking Dead‘s Khary Payton.

The film worked great as a kind of origin story for the super hero team, so it’ll be really interesting to see these characters fight against all kinds of “science-enhanced villains” with a longer television format. The news series premieres this fall, are you going to check it out?
