Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is hitting the emotional chord that many fans knew it would with its trailers. We got an official trailer for the Ryan Coogler film and with it came the knowledge that a new Black Panther will take on the mantle. With the passing of Chadwick Boseman, fans wondered what would happen in the world of Wakanda and it has been made clear by Coogler and Marvel producer Kevin Feige that they would not recast T’Challa.

So what we’re getting in the trailers is that we’re going to have a new Black Panther and the latest trailer does seem to confirm that a woman is taking on the title. The question now being is it Shuri or is it Nakia?

Wakanda Forever’s second trailer is a trip back to Wakanda

In the newest trailer for Coogler’s film, we get to see more of where Wakanda is after the loss of T’Challa and how those closest to him are coping. We got to see more of Riri Williams, which I loved, and seeing a new Black Panther rise as the trailer went on was both exciting and still made me nervous for Wakanda as they face off against Namor.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Delivered an Emotional First Trailer at SDCC

We got new footage from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and it was an emotional look into where the Black Panther legacy is heading with the unfortunate passing of the late Chadwick Boseman. The film, which has Ryan Coogler returning as director, introduces important characters into the fold of the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe but is also clearly a love letter to Boseman’s performance.

“We get to see more of Wakanda,” Lupita Nyong’o said. “The world of Wakanda is expanding and you guys have a lot to look forward to.” And it pairs well with what director Ryan Coogler said about the film. He joined the panel to talk a bit about losing Chadwick Boseman and the impact he as an actor had on the cast and the industry before talking briefly about the movie.

“His passion, his genius, his pride, and his culture and the impact that made on this industry will be felt forever. And we put our love for Chadwick into this film but we also put our passion, this film has a ton of action, it has humor, it’s a rollercoaster of a movie. And it goes to new places in Wakanda that we haven’t seen before but it also goes to new corners of the MCU and I’m so excited we’ll get to share it with you all in November,” Coogler said at the panel and you can feel the power this movie has as you’re watching the trailer.

Chadwick Boseman’s lose is felt in the frames and not in a way that feels like the movie is lacking but instead in the pain that these characters (and by extension the actors who knew him) felt at not having Boseman there with them. It was emotional to watch and a trailer that will be met with fans awaiting new footage and information about the movie.

Who is Namor, the villain of Wakanda Forever?

In both trailers we get to see Tenoch Huerta as Namor. A character who is very important in the grand scheme of Marvel comics, it did feel like we’d never get a Sub-Mariner storyline in the live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe but the more we learn about him, the more exciting it is. From what we can gather in the trailers, he believes that it is his right to take Wakanda (which he seemingly floods in the trailers).

We don’t know too much about what Namor is going to do in the film but having him as part of the MCU is exciting. I just am interested in what his character is going to do to Wakanda and the new Black Panther.

Who is in the Wakanda Forever Cast?

The cast from Black Panther is returning with the notable exception of Boseman, who the cast still had as number one on their call sheet while filming the movie. That means that Letitia Wright is back as Shuri, Danai Gurira is Okoye, Angela Bassett is Ramonda, Winston Duke is M’Baku, Martin Freeman is Everett Ross, and more.

The trailers have given us looks at Tenoch Huerta’s Namor, and we also get brief glimpses of Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams but the movie itself does feel, at least right now, to be Wakanda coping with the lose of T’Challa but, as Coogler said, we will also have plenty of action and I’m interested to see how that balance places out.

What is the release date for Wakanda Forever?

I cried a lot during the SDCC trailer as “No Woman No Cry” played and I cried during the second trailer. This is definitely going to be a movie that we’ll need to bring the tissues for but Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters on November 11 and I can’t wait.
