Fandango Poll Says Marvel Movie Fans Want a Black Widow Solo Movie

Fandango Poll: Marvel Movie Fans Want Black Widow Solo Movie

Recommended Videos

We already knew the answer to this one.

Movie ticketing site Fandango, at the behest of USA Today, posed a simple question to fans who bought tickets to see Captain America: Civil War: Which Avenger should get their own solo movie? The results almost made asking the question in the first place kind of silly (sillier than it already was, anyway): Black Widow in a landslide.

Widow was up against several other Avengers who haven’t yet had their own solo flicks: Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Vision (Paul Bettany), War Machine (Don Cheadle), and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). Vision was the runner up with 15% of the vote and everyone else trailing, but Scarlett Johansson’s Widow blew them all out of the water with a whopping 48%. It’s hard to be surprised when she was such a big part of the two best movies in Marvel’s shared universe so far—Avengers and Captain America: The Winter Soldier—yet she somehow hasn’t managed to have her own story told despite being one of the most interesting characters in the franchise.

The fans have spoken (1,000 of them, anyway, on this poll), and now we just have to wait and see if Marvel listens. Unfortunately, I’m not sure how likely that is when their schedule is planned out way in advanced and so jam-packed that they had to push a bunch of stuff back just to squeeze yet another Spider-Man in with Sony’s help. Sadly, we do not see how that’s a party.
