Boy Genius Report managed to snag an exclusive photo of the new BlackBerry Dakota, seen above, as well as the fairly pretty specs on the upcoming device.
BGR lays out the device’s specs:
- Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
- Tri-band UMTS
- 5MP camera with HD video recording, image stabilization, and a flash
- 4GB built-in storage, 768MB of RAM
- 2.8 inch VGA 640×480 capacitative screen (emphasis added)
- WiFi b, g, and n, on 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies
- 3G mobile hotspot
- MicroUSB port
- Bluetooth
- NFC
- Magnetometer
- Accelerometer
- Proximity sensor
- 10.5mm thin
- Launches with BlackBerry OS 6.1
It obviously contains the magnetometer to let you know when a certain supervillain is nearby and capable of controlling your phone. (Editor’s note: Yet another high-end BlackBerry that’s GSM-exclusive? Is the mobile world trying to force me to switch to a Verizon iPhone whether I want it or not? Also, I wish they listed the processor. Still, touchscreen-capable BlackBerry is long overdue, and these seem like decent specs.)
