Shinichiro Watanabe’s Blade Runner 2049 Anime Prequel Short Will Arrive in the U.S.
Anime fans and Blade Runner fans got a bit of great news last week, when we learned that Cowboy Bebop‘s Shinichiro Watanabe would be directing an anime prequel short film for Blade Runner 2049. It was announced as being part of the Japanese premiere of the film, but of course a question on everyone’s mind was: will it also be available in the U.S? Spoiler alert: yes!
Not only will the short be available in the United States, but it will actually be available here first! That is, if you subscribe to Crunchyroll or VRV. Blade Runner Black Out 2022 will be available via those platforms beginning on Tuesday 9/26 at 4:49am PST in regions worldwide except Asia. This allows the short to be available ahead of the American Blade Runner 2049 release on October 6th.
Here’s the preview of the short, this time with English subtitles, courtesy of the Crunchyroll blog:
So get excited (and get thee to Crunchyroll!), because Blade Runner: Black Out 2022 is less than a week away! Will you be checking it out?
