Britney Spears Carpool Karaokes With James Corden, But Why Is She Whispering?
Okay, so, we’re fans of James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke segment on The Late Late Show around here. That’s no lie. And, when we first heard that Britney Spears was going to show up to participate in Carpool Karaoke, we were kind of stoked about it. But the thing is, just as Mashable’s Josh Dickey points out, it’s Carpool Karaoke, not Carpool Lip Sync. This short preview of the segment tweeted by The Late Late Show isn’t exactly the most impressive video and has us just a little bit worried about how this episode might turn out.
In the nearly minute long preview, Corden thanks Spears for joining him in the car (which is, I guess, the schtick that comes along with every segment) and then busts into song. This time, they’re singing Spears’ “Toxic,” the ever-popular classic that’s even been paid tribute on Lip Sync Battle by none other than Clark Gregg himself. As Corden completely belts it out (as he always does), Spears seems to kind of just… whisper along. She stops singing for a little bit during, and when she actually is (ostensibly) singing, you can just barely hear her.
Maybe she just wasn’t feeling well that day. Maybe she just wasn’t into it. Honestly, who knows? I’ll likely still be checking out the video online after the fact, but at least I know now to curb my enthusiasm a bit. A part of me is still holding out hope that they’re maybe showing this bit and saving the better ones for the show. A girl can hope, right?
