Casting Bits: NBC’s Constantine & The Flash Spinoff
Faster than a speeding bullet!
Two Warner Bros. DC Comics television projects are moving along at their respective networks. We now know the identity of three supporting characters for NBC’s Constantine series as well as two potential villains joining the cast of The CW’s The Flash.
The more concrete info first – The CW has cast two more actors for The Flash. Rick Cosnett and Danielle Panabaker will join Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen and Jesse L. Martin’s Detective West. But who are they playing?
Deadline reports:
Cosnett plays star Detective Eddie Thawne, a recent transfer to the Central City Police Department, whose past is a mystery and who harbors a dark secret. Panabaker plays Caitlin Snow, a highly intelligent bioengineering expert who lost her fiancé during an explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs.
Comics fans will perhaps recognize those two names. Eddie Thawne is close to “Eobard Thawne,” the name of the Reverse-Flash, a villain with similar powers who’s determined to ruin The Flash’s life. Something tells me they just thought Eobard sounded too old fashioned, so you can probably bet that’s where they’re headed with that one. “Caitlin Snow” is the civilian name of another villain, Killer Frost. Don’t be surprised if both take a while to develop in the series.
Meanwhile, NBC has put out a casting call for supporting roles in the Constantine adaptation they’re putting together. KSite TV says including John Constantine, they are also looking to cast the characters Chas, Liv and Manny. Chas is most likely William “Chas” Chandler, played by Shia LaBeouf in the film version, but Liv and Manny could be new creations.
