Things We Saw Today: Stay up Late With Me and Watch Castlevania Season 2
Season 2 of Netflix’s hyper-violent, sharp-witted animated series Castlevania is technically dropping on October 26, 2018, which means the season will be available at 12 am PST, if we’re just able to stay awake that long.
Castlevania season 1, inspired by the classic video game, was a bloody romp through the kingdom of Wallachia, in the curse-laden, graphically violent, scathingly brilliant style of series writer and comics luminary Warren Ellis. Adi Shankar showruns, and the show features the vocal stylings of Richard Armitage (Belmont), James Callis (Alucard), Alejandra Reynoso (Sypha), and Graham McTavish (Dracula). My only problem with Castlevania‘s first season was that it was terribly brief: only four episodes, too easily chewed up and sucked dry.
Luckily, season 2 will double that initial order and spans eight episodes, hopefully featuring a lot of Trevor Belmont’s drunken swashbuckling, Alucard’s fabulous hair flowing in the Wallachian breeze, and Sypha rolling her eyes at the both of them.
The American West Coast gets its claws on Castlevania at 12:01 am tonight, but those of us on the East Coast will have to stay up until 3:01 am if we don’t want to wait.
Who needs sleep? Who’s staying up with me to watch?
