This Is What It Looks Like When a Hero Cat Tries to Throw the First Pitch at a Baseball Game
But probably not what it sounds like. Nothing should sound like this.
Normally, I’d defer to the baseballmen for their expertise on how to do sports, but I’m pretty sure that pitching is the opposite of swinging things at a ball. Whatever, though. Tara the Hero Cat who saved her human from a dog attack is free to pitch (or not pitch) however she pleases.
There have been a lot of weird “first pitch” gimmicks lately, and there’s been a lot of Tara the Hero Cat. (Seriously, a lot—the cat has its own merchandising department.) So, putting the two together makes sense, I guess.
Tara seems about as enthused about it as she did on her Today Show interview (real thing), where she mostly just tried to get away to do cat things—like nap in a place where people need to walk, probably.
I’d guess that’s why they had to adopt a “swing the pitcher at the ball” approach, which worked about as well as a you’d expect for a baseball bat cat. The ball was even on a string, which I’m not entirely sure was to aim it properly or because it should be easy to get a cat to swat at just about anything on a string.
Eventually, they got the job done, kind of.
