Someone Else Who’s Not Finnick Has Been Cast In Catching Fire

May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor

The casting announcements for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire continue to come at us fast and furious. But no, it’s still not Finnick, which is kind of ironic when you think about it considering this actor played Arthur Curry/Aquaman on the CW’s Smallville. Lionsgate has just revealed who will take on the role of District 1’s Gloss – Alan Ritchson

Just yesterday we brought you the news of District 2 being cast, today is our first from District 1. Ritchson has been chosen to play Gloss, the victor who enters the Quarter Quell with his sister, Cashmere. Both are described as classically beautiful and are some of the youngest tributes in these games having won consecutively when Katniss was a young girl.

Here’s a brief bio of the actor via The Hunger Games casting page:

Alan Ritchson is the middle son of a retired US Air Force Chief Master Sergeant and a high school teacher. He began his career as a model, working for Abercrombie and Fitch and was also the model for the title character in BEOWULF, with Angelina Jolie. Ritchson most recently starred in the CBS comedy pilot SUPER FUN NIGHT with Rebel Wilson, and BLUE MOUNTAIN STATE, which aired on Spike TV for three seasons. Previously, Ritchson recurred as “Aquaman” on CW’s SMALLVILLE and appeared in Season 3 of 90210 as a love interest to the character “Teddy Montgomery.”

I only knew him as Aquaman previously (he also voiced the character in Justice League: The New Frontier) but I think he’ll make a great Gloss. Thoughts?
